8 Pillars of Joy - Humor
Oh my goodness! I had such fun exploring this concept of humor through my yoga classes. We played like children, fell down, and laughed a lot. "Laughter is the most direct line between any two people" they said in The Book Of Joy. It is so true, and it is one of the eight pillars of joy. When is the last time that you laughed so hard that you cried? Or laughed so hard that you could not stand up? Are you blessed to have at least one person in your life to make you laugh like that? I truly am. I have this wonderful connection with my sister. There is nobody that makes laugh as deeply and fully as my sister, and sometimes it is about nothing at all. Sometimes we laugh at each other, sometimes at my mother (poor mom!) and sometimes just at nothing. But in the end, we feel so connected and joyful. These are some of my favorite moments in life.
Of course, we cannot forget to laugh at ourselves also. Most of my yoga classes involve a moment with me messing up! I have had to learn to laugh at myself, my mistakes and my humanness. Each of those moments brings me closer to my students, as we laugh about it together, finding the humor in our imperfections. I love that and I love them for it!
I wish today that everyone is blessed to have humor in their lives and to not take life so seriously. Spend time with people that make you laugh and fuel the joy in you through laughter!
Namaste my lovely imperfect friends.
